During design period of the project which is located in İzmir Province on Ankara Street, we based on urban and environmental factors. History of the region includes industrial fabric and current situation of the Street consists of random fullness and emptiness. This metamorphosis directed the main aspects of design.
Mass identity is formed to separate two main void which are life space and secondary front by using the main five component which are steel, concrete, wood, glass and green. Spatial flexibility, variable plan typology and satisfying the needs of users are taken as main criterias for life space. Housing and commercial spaces are used together in the project. Commercial spaces are designed to fulfill the need of users and social areas are positioned on the roof floor with swimming pool to create recreation area within the project scale.
Façade’s regular randomness creates the identity of the secondary front, at the same time facade void provides direct contact with the vertical green to generate sustainable life for structure. Sezyum Architects’s housing approach pays attention to subjectivity and privateness, by the property of the secondary front these terms are adapted to project with variations of modular structure. Façade is designed to generate passive insulation and day light control, at the same time fictionalizes self-enclosed life in the structure.
